At Bold School, we do believe in the value of respectful, constructive feedback. We believe one way to become a better creative is to learn when and how to implement feedback. We do, however, expect our artists to always speak with respect and with the intention of encouraging rather than tearing down another artist. We are all at different stages on our artistic journey, and that is a beautiful thing!
If you feel someone has criticized your work in an antagonistic manner, we ask that you take a moment to step back and evaluate their response and also your response to the critique. Sometimes we are too close to our own work to see clearly. You may wish to ask a third party to read what has been written to see if they are interpreting it as harshly as you are.
You also may wish to politely ask for clarification of the other artist's meaning. Please remember that Bold School is fortunate to have artists from more than eighty countries participating in our classes. At times, there may be language and interpretation differences occurring in the commentaries you read. Our goal at Bold School is to facilitate unity, understanding and growth within our community, and to assure these communities are beneficial to all.
If you still feel that a comment has been inappropriate in tone (rather than in content), please feel free to contact the Support desk for assistance. We will address all issues of disrespect, and we do reserve the right to remove any posts from our community walls.
